The main requirement for this competition was to design a kindergarten that could be replicated in several cities in China. In order to achieve this, the concept of modular space and module combination was developed.
For the class module, each class will have a mezzanine for sleeping area; thus the space for activities will be enlarged in the first floor.
Each module has an area of 160 sqm which is the size of a basic classroom unit. The whole building consists of two main module groups. The classrooms are placed at the south part of the building, for better daylighting; other spaces that do not need direct sunlight are placed at the north part of the building. A central courtyard and a circulation space connect the two parts together.
